April 13, 2010: Southwest American Indian Supportive Housing Summit

Learn more about best practices, tools and resources for developing supportive housing on and off reservations.

About Us

Many of our nation’s rural areas and Native American communities struggle with persistently high rates of poverty.

  • 1 in every 4 rural households in the U.S. is severely overburdened by housing costs.
  • 1/3 of homes in Native American communities are overcrowded.
  • More than 40 percent lack the basics like water, electricity, and adequate heating and plumbing.
  • As rural communities become older and more diverse, many lack the same diversity in resources.

Enterprise’s Rural and Native American initiative is helping communities respond to these challenges, and provide decent, green affordable housing for all residents. We collaborate with national, regional and local organizations to serve farmworkers, the Colonias and a geographically diverse range of rural and Native American communities. We also bring our extensive experience in green affordable housing, supportive housing and use of the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit to our community partners.
